Panel Discussion: What Beginning Teachers Should Know and Be Able To Do To Fulfill the Expectations Related To P12 Curriculum and Assessments Initiatives, With Implications for Educator Preparation, Accreditation and Program Approval
The intent of this panel discussion, is to focus on expectations for EPPs from the point of view of the Kentucky curriculum initiatives (KY Academic Standards, KY Curriculum Framework, KY Assessment and Accountability System).
1. What should beginning teachers know and be able to do to show they can utilize the Kentucky Academic Standards in curriculum and instruction?
2. What should beginning teachers know and be able to do to demonstrate their understanding of the Kentucky P-12 curriculum framework?
3. What should beginning teachers know and be able to do to demonstrate their understanding of the Kentucky P-12 assessment system?
4. What evidence is of most importance for beginning teachers to demonstrate their ability to incorporate Kentucky’s curriculum initiatives in their instruction planning and teaching practice?

Accreditation and Program Review Session
“Program Reviews and Accreditation in Kentucky: EPPs and OELE Looking Towards the Future”
The session will be facilitated by Amy Lingo (University of Louisville), Elizabeth Dinkins (Bellarmine University), Allison Bell (OELE), and Margaret Hockensmith (OELE).
Purpose of the Session: For EPPs to provide critical feedback to the Office of Educator Licensure and Effectiveness in the Kentucky Department of Education as they evaluate the program review process components.
1. Understand the requirements from KRS 161.028 related to program review and accreditation. (OELE staff)
a. What are the strengths in the statute that are aligned with preparing quality teachers?
2. Identify essential components of program review for initial and continuing programs.(OELE staff)
a. How does the statute align to the regulations?
b. What do EPPs perceive as essential components for program review (initial and continuing approval)?( Elizabeth and Amy)
c. What components do the EPPs perceive as redundant or irrelevant? (Elizabeth and Amy)
3. Identify innovative ideas of how program review can be useful to EPPs, while meeting the state regulations. (Elizabeth and Amy)
